Why do all phone numbers in Hollywood films start with ’555′? it was started way back in the day when the first 3 letters of a dialed number corresponded to an area for example Central 898989 would be CEN898989 using the numbers 236 for cen. the number 555 was not used often as J,K and L can;t be used to create any place names. Hollywood film makers were encouraged to start numbers with 555 so that fan wouldn’t hassle real people.
