Alphavillie is an old French film about a city that is completely controlled by a computer system the people who live in Alphaville are not allowed to express any emotion or feeling as the computer sees these reactions as illogical . People act illogically are forced to die by firing squad, on a diving board, in a swimming pool. The bodies are then fished out by synchronized swimmers in some strange public spectacle …. talk about illogical. The voice of Alphaville is sounds like it a chain smoker rather than an automated voice. One of the other strange things about the film that we would think of seeing in a movie about a tyrant computer is the dependence of its functioning on human scientists. The scientists in term are totally Dependant of the computer to control their lives, this is something that was touched on in the second Matrix movie. There is scene where Neo and the chancellor or whatever his position was are talking about power and how they have machines too purify water and how they can turn them off but without them they will die, thus the conundrum of if the man or the machine has power over the other.
